2026 Flag Football (K-2) NJSYFL

Flag Player Registration: $225/player; $200 if registered by May 1st
Register by June 1st to avoid a $50 late fee 
Sibling Discount 10% each additional 
*No work bond required but volunteers are necessary to run the program.

Practices

Attendance

Please make an effort to schedule your family vacations during June and July. Though we allow some flexibility for pre-arranged vacations, August is a critical month where skill sets are being evaluated and positions determined.

The 2026 season will begin on Monday, August 17, 2026.

AUGUST - practices will typically be scheduled for Monday– Thursday from 6:00 to 8:30 pm for a total of 10 practice hours for the week. Teams are limited to a maximum of 36 total practice hours prior to the first scheduled league game.

SEPT– End of the season - practices will be cut back to 2 nights a week for a total of 6 practice hours for the week. The specific nights will be announced during August. No team may schedule more than 6 hours of practice per week after Labor Day.
*Tentatively scheduled for Monday/Thursday 6:00-8:00 PM, with Saturday morning walk through typically scheduled for 8:00 AM - 9:15 AM.

League games are typically played on Saturdays or Sundays, with one scheduled game per team each week.
The regular season begins after the second week of practices and concludes before Thanksgiving.

Coaching Opportunities
Parent volunteers interested in coaching are encouraged and should register as a volunteer during the player registration process. No experience is required—however knowledge of the sport is preferred. All are welcome and will be paired with experienced coaches accordingly. We will require completion of the Rutgers SAFETY Clinic, the required training through USA Football, and pass a background check. There will be clinic opportunities this Spring and Summer to learn the game of football: skills, drills, practice and game planning.

Equipment and Uniforms  
Each flag player will be issued the following gear and uniforms from the Equipment Manager:  
(1) - Head Gear
(1) - Flags
(1) - Shorts
(1) - Game day jersey (Home/Away)

All these items are the property of the organization and must be maintained and returned to the Equipment Manager at the end of the season.

Each player will need to bring their own personal items in order to be completely ready to take the field:

Football shoes with non-metallic cleats
Practice and Game socks
Mouth-guard

The regular season begins after the second week of practices and concludes before Thanksgiving. Playoffs are held for A–D level teams, with the top four teams in each division qualifying for postseason play and a Super Bowl championship.

(1) - Helmet with face mask and chin strap
(1) - Shoulder pads
(1) - Practice jersey
(1) - Padded Game & Practice pants
(1) - Game day jersey (Home/Away)

All these items are the property of the organization and must be maintained and returned to the Equipment Manager at the end of the season.

Each player will need to bring their own personal items in order to be completely ready to take the field:

Mouth-guard with strap (+extras)
Football shoes with non-metallic cleats
Practice and Game socks
Football Girdle Athletic supporter
Protective Cup (optional)
Padded Football Shirt (optional)


If any player is missing any piece of their gear come practice and game time, they will not be allowed to take the field out of regard for their own safety.

2026 Sideline Cheer NJSYFL

Montgomery Youth Cheer Registration (Grades 3-8): $275/athlete; $250 if registered by May 1st

Registration fees includes:
Uniforms (Shell/Skirt)
Game Day use of PomPoms
Game Day Bow

  Required items you must provide for your athlete: 
○ Cheer sneakers - Village Shoes will attend a summer practice where you will be fitted and 
○ White ankle or no-show socks 
○ White, fitted, long sleeve shirt 
○ White briefs/tumble shorts 
 
Practice:
Practice starts the week of August 17th. 

August practices will be outdoors 3 evenings per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
Once school begins practices will be outdoors- 1 to 2 evenings per week. When the weather gets cooler/darker we will move indoors. Once the indoor facility is secured, the schedule will be provided. 
Additional practices may be added.

○ A parent/guardian or authorized pick-up person should remain at outdoor practices in the event that weather causes us to end early. Cheerleaders should be dropped off to indoor practices. Cheerleaders must have an adult to pick them up promptly at the end of practice.  
○ Cheerleaders should come prepared to practice by:  
■ being sure to dress appropriately in workout attire or practice uniform, socks and sneakers, with long hair pulled back.  
■ bringing water!  
■ bringing a yoga mat or beach towel for outdoor practice stretching  
■ NOT bringing anything not needed for practice, like toys.  
■ keeping cell phones away during practice time.  
■ NOT doing any stunts or tumbling unless told to do so by their coaches.  
■ coming with a positive attitude, ready to work hard, listen to their coaches, and help their teammates!
